

Sarah Lou Viveiros, age 93, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025, at North Woods Village. Born October 13, 1931, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Melnotte Flinn and Esther (Bridenbaugh) Flinn, and a 1949 graduate of Logansport High School.
On June 16, 1962, she married Walter Viveiros, who preceded her in death on March 13, 1995.
As a free-lance writer, Sarah Lou wrote the column "Sarah Says" in a weekly edition of the Howard County News during the 1970s. She served as Chairperson of the Howard County (U.S.) Bicentennial Committee in 1976 and was one of the founders of the Friends of the (Kokomo/Howard County) Library. She was a long-time member of South Side Christian Church.
Sarah Lou was very active with the Kokomo Humane Society, serving as Board President from 1988-2006, during which she founded and edited the KHS newsletter Four Paws Press.
She is survived by five sons, John Viveiros, David (Tina) Spurlock, Daniel (Debbie) Spurlock, Doug (Pam) Spurlock, and Daryl Spurlock; 12 grandchildren, and numerous great, and great-great-grandchildren.
Sarah Lou was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia 'Nadine' (Flinn) Galloway of Flint, Michigan; and one brother, Harold 'Mike' Flinn of Logansport, Indiana; and two grandchildren, Lisa (Spurlock) Gilmore of Louisville, Kentucky, and Michael Spurlock of Niles, Michigan.
Visitation will be from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Sunset Memory Garden, 2097 W. Alto Rd., Kokomo. The funeral service will be at 1:00pm, with her son, Pastor Doug Spurlock, officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Kokomo County Humane Society or South Side Christian Church.
