Violet’s first marriage was to Ken Steigerwald and they later divorced. She then married Jerry Rice and he preceded her in death. While living in Kokomo, Violet attended St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. She loved working on puzzles, reading books, and traveling to beaches. Violet also adored her cats, Cuddles and Minnie.
Violet is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (Kevin) Cantrell; granddaughter, Kelsey (Maxwell Pera) Cantrell; grandson, Kyle Cantrell; great grandson, Nicolis Pera; and three nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Violet was preceded in death by her three siblings, Elbert Bailey, Eloise Querry, and Joe Bob Bailey; her step-mother, Clara Davis Bailey; and her step-brother, Max (Becky) Adams.
A public visitation for Violet will be held at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home on Friday, December 29th from 11-1, with a funeral service immediately following. Violet will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Violet’s name may be made to the Humane Society of Hendricks County.
