He was born on February 27, 1928 in Kokomo, Indiana to Albert and Ica (Graves) Tucker.
He is survived by five children: Patricia Pierce, Martha Sands, Philip Tucker, Wilma Castillo, and Rebecca Cook along with 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and three great- great grandchildren; brothers, Herman, Ruble, and Louie; sisters, Alberta, Wanda, and Janet
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Kathleen Tucker; infant daughter, Donna Mae Tucker; a grandson, Paul Neil Richardson; brothers, Earl, Earnest, Max, Kenneth, Lonnie and Joe; sisters, Delores, Thelma, and Judy.
He worked at General Motors in Kokomo, Indiana for 38 years and retired in 1994. The love of his life was his wife, Mary Kathleen Tucker. They were married in the First Church of the Nazarene in Kokomo, Indiana on September 29, 1951. They were married for 72 years.
He had a giving heart and had a great love of God which was shown by his study of the Bible, his singing of gospel hymns, his donations to Christian missions and his love and kindness to others. He was a former member of Gateway Friends Church in Kokomo, Indiana. He loved his wooded property in Delphi, Indiana where he could hike, cut down trees, plant trees, mow grass, picnic and have a campfire. He loved gardening and working on cars and lawn mower engines. He loved the outdoors and any type of work that gave him the privilege of being outdoors.
A visitation for Virgil will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11th, 2026 at Ellers Mortuary, 725 S. Main Street in Kokomo, IN . A funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. with pastor James Bradley of Family Worship Center officiating. Burial will follow at Kokomo Memorial Park. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Bethany Pointe Health Campus in Anderson, Indiana and to Paradigm Health Hospice.
