Gerald ("Jerry") Lee Bottroff was a native son of San Diego, and a consummate builder and fixer. He served with the United States Air Force and commanded tanks with the Army National Guard, and was an auto mechanic first with the family business, and later for the North Island Naval Base. His passions included building and driving off-road vehicles, crafting model airplanes, and collecting and restoring antique rifles. He had a deep love for aviation, wildlife photography, and the history of the local Native American tribes. His favorite getaway was the Southern California desert, making countless weekend trips first with his parents, and later with his own family. He is survived by his wife Janice; his brothers Chuck and Larry; his sons Thomas, Michael, and Jeremy; his step-sons Kenny and Allen; and his granddaughters Maggie, Ivy, Reagan, and Katharine.
Celebration of Life is being planned by the family.
