

Mr. Tucci was born April 23, 1923 in Rogliano, Italy, son of the late John Batista Tucci and Frances Garofalo Tucci. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, where he attained the rank of corporal. Mr. Tucci was at the base of the hill during the raising of the flag at Iwo Jima. He worked as a Manager at several Belk’s Department Stores for 26 years, and retired from the LaGrange Belk’s. Mr. Tucci was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the Rotary Club of LaGrange.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Margaret P. Tucci of LaGrange; three daughters, Mary Wolsifer of LaGrange, Judy (Ken) Terry of Midland, TX, and Suzanne (Scott) Jones of LaGrange; two sons, John Tucci of LaGrange, and Robert Tucci of Youngsville, NC; a sister, Evelyn D’Anna of Rehoboth Beach, DE; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Friday, January 28, 2011 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Father Kevin Hargaden officiating. Burial will follow in Meadoway Gardens Cemetery.
The family will be at their home and will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to either St. Peter’s Catholic Church or Hospice LaGrange in memory of Albert John Tucci.
