Doris Howard McGee

Mrs. McGee was born Feb. 27, 1925 in LaGrange to the late Awbrey and Annie Lizzie Howard. She was a graduate of LaGrange High School where she was a majorette and played drums in the marching band. She was married to John Neil McGee of Chipley, GA. Mr. McGee was a construction engineer; the family lived in Ohio, Indiana, Virginia, Georgia and several places in Florida during the years of their marriage. She was a long-standing member of The Dallas-Dodd Presbyterian Church in LaGrange and an accomplished needle-woman and craftsperson.

Doris is survived by son, John and his wife Lalla; daughter, Gail and her husband, Arty; two granddaughters, Lisa T. Rote and Lori T. Barnes; 3 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Helon Ayres of Tallahassee, FL.

Following the 10 AM graveside service, Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Bethany Baptist Church in Pine Mountain, family and friends will gather at her home in LaGrange for remembrances of this marvelous woman who made life richer for so many people. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dallas-Dodd Presbyterian Church.
