Mr. Roland was born December 5, 1926 in Randolph County, GA, son of the late Elisha Hogan Roland and Elizabeth Roland Mowrey. He was a member of Greenville United Methodist Church and was employed with State Department of Education as a Broadcast Engineer. Mr. Roland was a former member of the Lion’s Club, a member of the Masonic Lodge # 321, and proudly served has country in the U.S. Army during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Whatley Roland, his second wife, Lavance York Roland, daughter, Myra Elizabeth Roland Flavin, son, George Durward Roland, granddaughter, Adina Dianne Flavin, and a sister, Myra Roland DuBose.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette Adina Roland (James Flavin); grandsons, George Eric Roland and Mark Matthis Flavin; great grandson, Aidan Starling Flavin; great granddaughter, Zoey Flavin; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Greenville United Methodist Church, Greenville, GA with Reverend Martina Bober officiating. The gathering of family and friends will in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Greenville United Methodist Church, 502 N. Talbotton Street, Greenville, GA 30222 or Georgia Masonic Children’s Home, 1417 Nottingham Drive, Macon, GA 31211 in memory of Mr. Durward Elisha Roland.
