Mrs. Blackwell was born September 22, 1922 in LaGrange, daughter of the late William Monroe Yarborough and Addie Lucille Owens Yarborough. She had lived in LaGrange all her life and was Baptist by faith. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Blackwell was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Posey Johnston and a daughter, Peggy Joyce Pruitt.
Survivors include her sons, Glenn Joel Johnston, Sr. and Dan Johnston and his partner Vince Griffo; six grandchildren, Michael Dan Johnston, Jr., Mary Frances Johnston, Cathy Whipple, Scott Pruitt, Heather Dixon, and Glenn Johnston, Jr.; nine great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and loving caretaker, Trish Skandalakis.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 11, 2011 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Jimmy McMillian officiating. Burial will follow in Hillview East Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, April 11, 2011 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.
