Georgia Elizabeth Moon

She was born August 23, 1915 in Tallapoosa County, AL to the late John Elery Godwin, Sr. and Mattie Lily Crockett Godwin. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She worked for a number of years as a bookkeeper for C&S Bank, now Bank of America, and received her American Institute of Banking Certificate. Mrs. Moon lived a full life, witnessing and enjoying many things, but her greatest joy was her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Alfred Moon; infant twins John Michael and Dennis Moore Moon, granddaughter Deborah E. Miller, and her siblings, John E. Godwin Jr, Barnabas E. Godwin, Sr., Joseph S. Godwin, Lucille (Mac) McGaughey, and Marie (John Ed) Morgan.

Survivors include her son, Ben L. (Jackie) Moon of Carrollton, GA; daughters, Diane M. (Jim) Miller of Dadeville, AL and Jeanne M. (Brian) Marsh of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Melissa (Jeff) Underwood of Conway, AR, Stephanie M. (Justin) Hammonds of Cumming, GA, Kimberly M. (Brian) Ussery of Carrollton, GA, B. Collier (Amanda) Moon of Watkinsville, GA, Michael Miller (Heather) of Long Beach, MS, Alan Marsh of Aurora, CO, Philip Marsh (Mary) of Louisville, CO, Mindy Marsh of Firestone, CO; 14 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be 3:00pm CST on Sunday, May 9, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church of Tallassee, AL with Reverend Dric Williford and Reverend Paul Messer officiating. The visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Family will gather following the services at the Miller home in the Still Waters community near Dadeville, AL.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Montgomery, AL or Tallassee First United Methodist Church in Tallassee, AL.
