Harold L. Shelton

Mr. Shelton was born April 8, 1935 in Greenville, GA, son of the late John Douglas Shelton and Minnie Mae Roberts Shelton. He was a member of New Covenant Baptist Church in Pine Mountain, GA and was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Shelton was employed with the Harris County Sheriff’s department as a deputy for most of his life and after retiring he worked for Callaway Gardens as head of security and also was the Chief Investigator for the Secretary of State, Elections Department. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheree Shelton Duszynski, and several siblings and their spouses.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Shelton; children, Mark Shelton (Linda Darlene Shelton), Scott Shelton (Martha Alida Shelton), and Tim Shelton (Kathy Ann Shelton); grandchildren, Amanda Brewer (Mike), Felisha Plummer (Wesley), Andrea Smith (Sterling), Eric Womble (Kasey), Kyle Shelton (Jessica), Christina Mundy, Beau Shelton (Jessica), Olivia Harrison (Edward), Nick Tedrow, Austin Shelton (Gabi), and Megan Alford (Carson); 27 great grandchildren; two brothers, Joel Shelton (Linda) and Ronnie Shelton; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 3:00 P.M. Thursday, December 29, 2022 in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, LaGrange, GA with Rev. Joel Chapman and Rev. Derrick West officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Meadoway Gardens Cemetery. The gathering of family and friends will be on Thursday from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
