I had the privilege of student teaching under Susan.  She left a lasting impression on me.   I was fortunate to begin my teaching and coaching career at Henderson High School.  An incredibly strong foundation led to a career of 31 years!!  We spent time together at her house at the lake; which she loved. I will be immensely grateful for our paths crossing! 

Our dear Miss Finney started at Henderson High with us when it first opened its doors. Her enthusiasm for the girls’ PE program was not shared by us when we first dressed out in our ghastly little blue gym suits, horrors which closely resembled prison uniforms. Our mini rebellion cost us nothing other than a few laps around the gym, but that was the first of many life lessons we were to learn from the indomitable Miss Finney....to be able to laugh at ourselves and have fun doing it. She taught us to work as a group, to care for one another, to respect ourselves, and to have courage as women in taking our place alongside our male  peers.  It was apparent in everything she did that she loved her students...and we loved her back,  May she now rest in the Peace that we never once gave her.

Miss Finney was a major influence in my life. She kept me between the lines during my high school years when I was veering.  Cant imagine where I would be now without her. 

Susan was a great friend as well as an amazing co-worker at Henderson High School. She worked to conduct a solid program with needs of staff and students forefront.
We , Jim, and I, loved visiting her relaxed home on the lake.  She loved her place and her relaxation that was well deserved.  
She is missed already.

I had the pleasure of knowing Susan for many years at Henderson High School.   I coached boys basketball teams for many years when she was coaching the girls teams.   I still know some of her former players and they are saddened by the news of her passing.   Susan was a great teacher, coach, person, and friend.   My condolences to the family.

Susan was an important part of our family (I am a cousin). She held family get togethers at her home in Gainsville for many summers. Once when I asked her when she would stop, she told me that she would continue until my mother could not come, and she did. We all loved the Finney Family yearly reunions. She always had lots of people and so much food!! I love Susan so much. She could always make me laugh and get in trouble with our grandmother! (Ha). My heart and prayers are with all the family now.

I was fortunate to teach at Henderson HS during Susan's years there. I saw her make the transition from teaching girls only to having mixed gym classes. She was an exacting teacher but taught with love and patience.  I believe she changed the lives of many students for the better. I hope her memory and love for others will bring peace to her family and many friends.

Susan was a member of Pulmonary Rehab for over 13 years, she was such a blessing to her classmates, her positive attitude and loving  smile will always be remembered.  Our deepest condolences to her family,  we loved Susan and she will never be forgotten.
