Helen Daniel

Mrs. Daniel was born November 15, 1922 in Harrisburg, PA, daughter of the late John Krauger Hearne and Helen Hearne Crather. She was an active member of First Baptist Church on the Square and formerly taught in the second grade Sunday School Department for many years. Mrs. Daniel was a member of the WMU, Merry Makers, Dorcas Sunday School Class and the Tabard Book Club. She was also a member of several bridge clubs, HCC Ladies Golf Club Association, Pink Ladies (now the WGHS Auxiliary), served as a Girl Scout Leader, was a West Georgia Hospice Volunteer, and a Board Member of LaGrange Personal Aid. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Lt. William O. Poindexter, Jr. and Allen “Pete” Daniel, Sr. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Catherine D. Gordy.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sherrie and Carroll Latham of LaGrange; son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Sue Daniel, Jr. of Mountville, GA; grandchildren, Jennifer and Matt Cook of Newnan, GA, Dexter Evans of LaGrange, Pete Daniel of Atlanta, GA, Walter and Holeigh Daniel of LaGrange, Lee Ann and Steve Comerford of Columbus, GA, Scott and Cristy Gordy of Beaufort, N.C., and Whitney and Peter Mallory of Strasbourg, France; great grandchildren, Meagan Gosdin, Claire Cook, Skyler Daniel, Durham Daniel, and Ansley Willis.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 3, 2010 at First Baptist Church on the Square with Dr. Paul Baxter officiating. A private burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the funeral service.

The family request that all flowers be omitted and contributions be made to Hospice LaGrange, First Baptist Church on the Square, or your charity of choice.
