A member of the Greatest Generation, Idus was born in Conyers and during War World II he joined the Army Air Corp while still in his teens. He served his country in Great Britain and Germany. When he returned from the war, he married Evelyn McGraw Davis and they settled in LaGrange.
Idus loved to travel so it was only natural that he spent 23 years as a field engineer for Process Control Corporation, completing projects in all of the lower 48 states. His last overseas trip was to Great Britain in 2003, retracing places at which he was stationed during War World II. Idus was touched by the gratitude expressed by so many British people he met during his service time. Passionate about genealogy, he spent many happy hours researching his family history.
Survivors include his daughter, Mary Elizabeth Davis of Suwanee, GA; brother, Erskine Davis of Destin, FL; and 5 nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services will be at 12:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 7, 2015 in Restlawn Memory Gardens with Louis Johnson and Charles Prestridge speaking. The gathering of family and friends will be on Tuesday from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 (www.woundedwarriorproject.org) in memory of Idus Warren Davis.
