

Johnny was born April 26, 1941 in Troup County, Georgia, son of the late John Durham Dennis, Sr. and Ruth Marie Worthy Dennis. He had lived in LaGrange most of his life and was a member of South Highland Presbyterian Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Johnny was an avid golfer and worked as a Golf Pro for most of his life at courses, including the American Legion Golf Course in LaGrange. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dawn Dennis Lacombe.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Wilder Dennis; a son, Trae Dennis; grandsons, John Durham ‘J.D.’ Dennis, IV and Jackson Durand Dennis; sisters, Pat (Earnest) Brooks of Lanett, AL, Ellie Ruth (Robert) Wilder of Macon, and Debbie (Ray) Hart of Greensboro, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, December 20, 2010 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, LaGrange Chapel with Minister Jeff Wilder and Rev. Dr. Quincy Brown officiating. A private burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will be at their home and will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, and immediately following the memorial service on Monday.
Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute to LaGrange College or a charity of their choice.
