John W. Edwards

Mr. Edwards was born February 6, 1935 in Union Springs, AL, son of the late Luther A. Edwards and Addie L. Metcalf Edwards. He was a member of Baptist Tabernacle and served as a director with the Salvation Army for 4 years. Mr. Edwards was a retired business owner with businesses to include: Edwards Shoes, Libby's, O'Josh, and John Edwards Lawn Service. He also worked for Cannon Shoes for many years and locally worked for Johnson Motors and Lukken Chevrolet. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Milledge and Willie M. Dudley of Hodgesville, AL.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth “Libby” Dudley Edwards of LaGrange; daughters, Deborah Rosier (Bob) of Baltimore, MD and Brenda Leverett (Joe) of LaGrange; son, Duane Edwards (Lisa) of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Nicolle Spitulnik (Evan), Gregory Schneider, Stacie Stover (Brad), all of Baltimore, MD, Joshua Edwards of Charlotte, NC, and Kendall Ham (Ray) of LaGrange; three great grandchildren, Sophia and Cole Spitulnik; and Ansleigh Arndt; brothers, Jim Edwards (Marleen) of Brandon, MS and Cecil Edwards (Frances) of Panama City, FL; sister-in-law, Ruby Schwinn (Row) of Dothan, AL; and brother-in-law, Bryant Dudley (Ann) of Cottonwood, AL. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Gerald Westbrook and Reverend Jimmy McMillian officiating. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memory Gardens.

The gathering of family and friends will be on Wednesday from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
