Mrs. Tilley was born December 7, 1933 in Trion, GA, daughter of the late William “Bill” Gore Battles and Blanche Henderson Battles. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Georgia and retired from Hughes Aircraft Company after several years of faithful service. Joyce was in the Ruth Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church on the Square and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She supported and greatly enjoyed her involvement with the Bathing Beauties, LaGrange Symphony Guild, LaGrange Garden Club and her Bridge Club. Joyce volunteered with the Department of Family and Children Services, Callaway Gardens and her children’s elementary school. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Harlen Tilley, Sr.; her sister, Marian Battles and several dear friends.
Survivors include her son, Ralph Harlen “Hal” Tilley, Jr. (Kathy); daughters, Susan Tilley Stubley (Mark) and Elizabeth Tilley; grandchildren, Bayleigh Stubley Glowacki (Brian), Mark McClellan Stubley, Jr., and Chandler Tilley Nelson (Nate); great grandchildren, William Ralph Penn Glowacki and Henry Mark Richard Glowacki; several other relatives and friends.
The Celebration of Life Service will be 10:00am Tuesday, August 23, 2022 in the Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Chapel with Pastor James Goodlet officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30am until service time. The Committal Service will be in West Hill Cemetery, Trion, GA.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Wellstar West Georgia Hospice in memory of Glenda Joyce Battles Tilley.
