Julia Margaret Thornton Cleveland Brown Murray

Mrs. Murray was born March 28, 1925 in Elmore County, AL, daughter of the late Jessie James Thornton and Viola Gertrude Duck Thornton. She was employed for approximately 35 years with Dixie Mills until their closing and later worked for The Milliken Guest House before retiring. Mrs. Murray was a member of Dunson Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James Alvin Cleveland.

Survivors include a son, Benny Harold (Bobbie) Cleveland; two daughters, Margaret Ann Cleveland Money and Lana Sharon Brown (Robbie) Bussey; grandchildren, Timothy Cleveland, Benny Dwayne (Cathy) Cleveland, Michelle Cleveland (Jacob) Rougeau, Comer Lance (Cynthia) Money, Karla Suzann Wade (Tommy) Richards, and Jonathan Cleveland; seven great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; two brothers, James Thornton and Leon Thornton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Clay Snyder and Reverend Jimmy McMillian officiating. Burial will follow in Hillview East Cemetery.

The gathering of family and friends will be on Saturday from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Dunson Baptist Church in memory of Mrs. Murray.
