Kate Simpson Grant

Kate was born November 26, 1929 in Newell, AL, daughter of the late Willie and Katie Cofield Simpson. She retired from the City of Hapeville, where she worked as a School Crossing Guard for many years. She was a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Kate was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie M. Grant.

Survivors include her children, Vickie (Dale) Lovvorn of Woodland, AL, Pansey (Marty) Bailey of Woodland, and Charles (Elaine) Tucker of Wedowee, AL; step-sons, John (Lee Ann) Grant of Atlanta and Jimmy (Susan ) Grant of Jonesboro; sisters, Katie Cook of Wedowee and Jeanelle (Dennis) Adair of Villa Rica; a brother, Jim (Jean) Simpson of LaGrange; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will gather at the funeral home to receive friends on Sunday, December 16, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, December 17, 2012 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, LaGrange Chapel with the Rev. Anthony Hovey officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
