Katie Bell Whatley

Mrs. Whatley was born April 20, 1927 in LaGrange, GA, daughter of the late J.F. Johnson and Willie Lou Borders Whatley. She was a homemaker and a member of the Salvation Army. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clay Whatley, Jr., a daughter, Cerice Whatley, and a granddaughter, Deidre Traylor.

Survivors include three children, Penny Dodgen of Standing Rock, AL, William B. (Carolyn) Whatley of Hogansville, GA, and Stella (Billy) Yarbrough; three grandchildren, Debbie Lanier, Daniel Hogan, and Kayla Hogan; three great grandchildren, one great great grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and special cousins, James and Bobbie Scott.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with Reverend Bobby Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.

The family will be at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, William and Carolyn Whatley, 131 Grayson Trail, Hogansville, GA, and will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.
