Margaret Ruth Coker

Margaret “Ruth” Coker passed away peacefully at Wellstar Hospice on December 4, 2025. She was born on May 11, 1922 in LaGrange. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Coker, brother Dewey Knighton and her parents.

She is survived by a son Wiley (Bonnie) Jones of Dalton, GA, Patricia (Ron) Jackson of Gulf Shores, AL, and Susan (Brent) Burdick of LaGrange, GA. Grandchildren include Jeff Jones, Jill Borak, Jamie Jones and Lauren Jones, 7 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

She retired from Callaway Mills/Milliken & Co. and worked at WellStar West Georgia Medical Center in her later years as a weekend front desk receptionist. She also volunteered at WellStar for over 24 years with over 16,000 hours of service where she was honored as Volunteer of the Year. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange.

The family would like to thank the caring staff of Vernon Woods Retirement Community where she was a resident for many years.

Striffler-Hamby is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange or Wellstar Hospice.

Visitation will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Chapel located at 1010 Mooty Bridge Road, LaGrange, GA 30241, on December 7, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

A Graveside Service will take place at Restlawn Memory Gardens, 2098 Mooty Bridge Rd, LaGrange, GA 30241, on December 8, 2025, at 11:00 am.
