“Aunt Mott” or “Mama Mott” as she was affectionately known, was born August 23, 1930, in LaGrange, GA. She was the daughter of the late Robert Andrew Longshore, Sr. and Florence Irene Noles Longshore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Dorothy Sue Longshore, Geraldine “Gerry” Yarbrough, Mary Katherine “Peg” Bailey, and James B. “Jimmy” Longshore.
Mott was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend. She spent her life caring for others including her family and her church family. Growing up, she was a member of the Girl Scouts of America. She spent her life serving unconditionally and was the first to call, send cards and assist anyone who needed encouraging or care. She was an artist in the kitchen and baked the best Red Velvet cakes and many others. She was a faithful member of Lighthouse Tabernacle of Jesus Christ in Hogansville for 52 years, where she also served as secretary for 26 years. An outstanding professional, Martha worked at Belk for 55+ years, where she started in1965 as a secretary, moved to Human Research Manager, then Area Sales Floor Manager before fully retiring in 2020. She served in many community involvements, including the Troup High School Marketing Education Business Advisory Council, where she supported and assisted in the training of several students in the school’s marketing program since it began in 1986. Martha will be best remembered for her listening ear, words of wisdom, and the way she made others feel special. She will be missed by many, but we all are grateful for the life she lived and the legacy she has left behind.
Those left to cherish her memory include her brothers, Rev. Robert A. (Pat) Longshore, Jr. and Rev. Joel (Gwen) Longshore; children, James B. (Jeannine) Longshore and Isabelle “Izzy” (Bob) Cameron; grandsons, J. Corbin Longshore, Turner R. Longshore, Henley S. Longshore, Brian J. Cameron, Michael R. Cameron, Kyle K. Cameron and Casey A. Cameron; also a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives, loved ones and friends.
The Gathering of Family and Friends will be Friday, February 14, 2025, from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary LaGrange. The Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00am Saturday, February 15, 2025, at The Lighthouse Tabernacle of Jesus Christ in Hogansville, GA with Rev. Robert Longshore, Jr., Rev. Joel Longshore, Rev. David Simmons and Rev. Timothy Longshore officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillview Annex Cemetery in LaGrange, GA.
