I have known Mrs Joyce since I was about 16.  I became very good friends with Teresa in high school and I would come to her house all the time.  We had great times laughing with Mrs Joyce.  She was just one of us teenagers and we loved her so much.  My fist experience with frog legs was at her house. She cooked them for Mr Curtis and I was facilitated as my mother didn’t cook them. We had some great times at Mrs Joyce and MrCurtis house. They were wonderful people and loved life. They loved having Teresa ‘s friends over. 

…….My memory goes way back in early days when she cut my mom's hair and my hair and my boys' when they were young also.  When Buddy and I moved back to our home town, she gave me a beautiful iris. Now I have so many. LOVE your Mom.



She always cut my hair when I was a child and I loved hearing her talk all the time bout u, Teresa.  She was such a sweetheart to all of us.

Teresa, your mother was so good to mine.  She would cut her hair even if we didn't have the money. That was such a wonderful thing she did.  I still remember that about her.  She was such a humble person.  Love y'all dearly!



Lord knows I miss this lady right here Mrs Joyce Scott (B.K.A. MY Joycie Pooh).  The 6 months I was there with her was so special to me. I fell in love with her as soon as I met her. Mrs. Joyce was a person that would light your day up and you would leave smiling like the Kool-Aid man. Lol Teresa your mom was my friend and I will never forget her. She will always be in my ❤. Love and miss her. ❤❤

My sweetest memory was going to Walmart and either seeing your Mother and Daddy  when I came out or going in . They would be parked facing the door eating food and people  watching . First time your daddy blew the horn at me so I go and speak to them and told your daddy  if he had brought me some thing to eat I would people watch with them . I love seeing them there I sure do miss them . I use to go with my Aunt Eva Bennett well matterof fact I drove and I was no way close to driving age . But I would go in the dime store and get us popcorn and a coke and we would people watch for hours . Love you Teresa !!!

I  have many memories of Joyce. I guess the last one most memorable to me was when I would take my mom over to visit with her. They would talk about old time and Curtis and I would get so tickled at them. Joyce always enjoyed our visits and we enjoyed her so much. They are together again and no telling what they are talking about now. I know I will see Joyce again one day. Oh happy day. 

Joyce was very sweet person.  She loved and cared for her family.    She will truly be missed. 

Memories of Joyce go way back when she did my grandmother hair then later on doing my mother's, always look forward to going to ms Joyce beauty shop .  As years passed we became neighbors and when Gayle started helping take care of her a lot of sweet memories came along , she would call me the little boy down the street,one day she had her nails done and they were so pretty and when asked who done them she replied the boy down the street.Joyce u may be gone from us but we have our sweet memories of u forever.

Teresa just a few words to say how blessed I am to have  had the opportunity to meet your mom .She could make  me laugh some days  and some days my heart would break  when I would watch her going through  her bad days.I remember the days she would want to go outside and I would tell her it sure is hot out there and she was determined to go out and we would go out and  about 10  minutes she would say boy it's hot out here you want to go back in  .we would go back in and we would listen to Elvis she so enjoyed  those days every  one I played she would say I love that one.My favorite thing I ever heard her say was you know my daughter and would say I sure do and she would always say I love her that's my baby.what a blessing to watch how you took care of your mom I know the days were hard and you always did  what was  right.I want you to know God had truly blessed you with a loving spirit and I'm so glad God blessed me with meeting you and Radney ..I love y'all take care let's stay in touch my sweet friend ❤️

Teresa your mama and daddy would always see Ronnie and me at Rogers B.B.Que and we always talked about how you and Barbara took us to see Elvis and how we needed to get y'all to take us back to see another show.My mama and your mama were always friends.I loved your mama as much as you loved our mama.She was always so sweet to me.Love always Deborah Mickle.❤️❤️🙏🏽🙏🏽

Alzheimer's is a wicked disease! Robs just about all your memory as with Ms. Scott. However,  just a few days before Ms. Scott ascended to a Greater place of physical, spiritual,  and mental existence, she wanted and was able to sing me a song,  "Yes, Jesus loves me". A little memory left to have her mind on the Lord. I will always remember her for that!  


It’s hard to put feelings into words and be able to express exactly how special someone was. My cousin Joyce was always so sweet to me. Always filled with kind words, never judging, and always loving. I didn’t see her as often as I would’ve liked, as life often has a way of keeping us busy. I was blessed by every meeting I had with her. It’s never good-bye.....


So glad I had the opportunity to meet this lady. She was always so nice to me and my husband Bob. We enjoyed lots of laughs ,and sometimes even sad times. Through it all she was a treasured friend. She will be missed, but she will ever live in our memories.

Wayne has known Ms. Joyce for many years. He had the pleasure of knowing the whole family and sharing many memories with them all. 
I only met and got to know the family twords the end of Ms. Joyce's life. I had the pleasure of being a backup caregiver to her. She was a wonderful, funny, loving, caring, and spunky woman.  I enjoyed playing Elvis Presley's music for her and dancing with her in her wheelchair.  She would laugh and sing, it was such a fond memory.  I will cherish the time I spent with her doing her hair and chatting the whole time.  She will be greatly missed and someday we will see her again in heaven. 
I also am thankful I met Teresa and Radney House. They are an amazing couple to have as friends.  We love them all and will continue to cherish our memories together.

Mrs. Joyce always had that friendly greeting whenever I saw her.  She would  with genuine Christian love ask about my parents, or how things were in my life. It was like time stood still,  because with Mrs. Joyce  she wasn’t just asking,  it was just her unique way of truely communicating with others. Even now I still can visualize her sweeping at the shop. She would stop and with broom in hand, forget about the task, turning all her attention to  me  as we talked and always with a welcoming smile.  Mrs. Joyce lived Proverbs 18:24 

A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.

Truly Mrs. Joyce had “many” friends. I believe this memory book will be full of inspirations by her friends to uplift, encourage and remind us to take time in this busy world we live in to be  a friend to others. 

Mrs. Joyce, her challenge remains for us all in the memories we each have of Her....and you know... Mrs. Joyce’s love and compassion is still present with us because she lived as an example and taught Teresa the same values ....yes they are values...because each of us that are blessed to have known Mrs. Joyce  will forever cherish our memories and continue to experience the same compassion, love and friendship for days to come..

My Mother, Edna Anderson, was a client of Joyce's for quite a few years.  Mother loved to go get her semi-annual perms from Joyce and haircuts every now and then because it grew very fast.   After Mother came down with Dementia she forgot Joyce's name, but she didn't forget Joyce was her beautician.   Seems like the times I took Mother, it would pick up her spirits when she went in and saw Joyce.  A big smile would come across her face, and it was followed by an "It's good to see you, how are you."   Mother never tired of going to see Joyce the times I took her in just to get it set for the week.  Perhaps, Joyce and Mother have run across each other inside those Pearly Gates.   Joyce is missed by many I know here on this old earth.  

Have know Joyce for a long time. Will really miss going by to visit her. She was a very sweet person. Remember spending the night with Teresa and we would get Joyce so tickled about something we had done. We kept her laughing. She will really be missed.

Mrs. Joyce is special  to my family. I have know her pretty much  my whole life. She did my mother's  hair as long as she was alive. My earliest  memories  are her shop on Mew Franklin Rd with Teresa  always  brushing and pretending  to fix my hair  while Mrs. Joyce  did my mothers. Mrs. Joyce  and Teresa  were the inspiration  for me getting  my licenses  as a Cosmetologist. I always  wanted  to work with this wonderful  lady. She holds a special  place in my heart. Mrs. Joyce  was a sweet  and wonderful woman  with a heart of Gold. Teresa remember the good times and keep her memory  alive.

I loved entering into the beauty shop and being greeted by Mrs. Joyce at her station. She had the friendliest smile and her eyes twinkled when speaking to me. She was a very nice lady❤️

When I was a little girl my mom brought me to Mrs. Joyce to get my hair cut into a pixie. I did not want a pixie and cried the whole time she was cutting my hair. Mrs. Joyce told my mother she would not cut my hair again unless I wanted it cut.



I met your beautiful Mother later in life.  I saw the sparkle of love shining out of her pretty eyes.  I felt that she loved and accepted me immediately.  That is such a gift.  I was blessed to even say that I met her.  You have much for which to be thankful.  She exhibited love and taught you well.  God bless you, Teresa.  



I always enjoyed taking my grandparents to the beauty shop every Thursday morning. If Ms. Joyce got behind I would help her wash or unroll her clients. Due to the fact that I was always so busy, some days she would tell me to lay down on her couch & take a nap. She was definitely on of my favorite ladies. I sincerely miss her.

TeresaI will always remember your Mom doing Mama’a hair when I was a kid and even as a teenager. I spent a lot of time at her beauty which  you and her worked and owned together.  I do believe she gave me my first perm as a kid.  She was a sweet lady and a great friend to Mama.   Prayers for you and thanks for being a friend all these years  

Teresa, Durell went to school with Joyce. Think they were in same grade. He always had a lot of respect for her. He worked for several years with Security Life Insurance company and office was across the street from beauty shop. When he got ready for a hair cut he would call her and say he needed hair cut. She would tell him to come on. Don’t think he even made appointment half the time. They would talk about school days and how things had changed   He always loved  to pick at Curtis. She did my hair a few times. Thing I remember about Joyce was she always had a smile and was so kind to everyone. You were blessed to have had such a sweet mother!!  Love you. 

Joyce Scott was a very loving and caring woman. She is sadly missed. She used to cut my hair so many years ago. I love u Joyce RIP keep them happy in Heaven with your very beautiful smile lovely lady. 

My mom, Florence Morgan loved your mom. She never failed to do her hair just like she liked it. Mom always felt better when she left the Beauty Shop. It was the light of her week to go sit in that chair and talk to your mom.  Emily Allen

I met Joyce  when we were visiting Teresa and Radney from out of town.  She was the sweetest lady.  I wish I could of had more time to get to know her better. 

I would like to say that I loved Joyce very much.  I met her when my girls JoAnn and Debra were little. Joyce started cutting our hair. Joyce always had a smile for everyone. She also cut my Mama's hair. I miss her very much. I haven't found anyone that can cut my hair as good as Joyce Scott.

I met Ms Joyce a few year back . My daughter & me went to the lil brick house on S Greenwood St . Hope that is the right name of the street . It was probably in the early 80s , I loved Ms. Joyce and Teresa. They couldn't  be nice enough  when you went to there Beauty Shop.. I made Friends  with them both but Teresa I have seen out more. ,Ms Joyce was a Beautiful & Sweet Lady . RIP Mrs. &  Mr Scott  until we all meet Again  with all Our Love Ones. 

I loved my Cousin Joyce...There is just too many good memories to write about. Her and Curtis were always fun to be around and I miss seein them both...We used to have some good times talkin to em at Roger's BBQ and loved reminiscing about Maw and Paw Bryant and Aunt Lee...Gonna miss them...We love you and Radney too Cuz!!!!

Mrs Joyce has always been very special to me, always greeting me with a smile and sharing memories of my mother and herself in the younger days. I will always cherish those days at the beauty shop with her and Teresa. Love them like my family second mother and sister. 

Mrs. Joyce Scott was the first lady to cut my hair, and the only one to cut my hair for many years. I loved her and her family very much. Mrs. Joyce and Theresa held a special place in my heart and will always. I love and miss you Mrs. Joyce.

I remember joyce and i sitting on the front porch just watching the cars go by.  We  did her fingernails one time and she always said the little boy down the street did her nails [talking about my husband  Chris].  Never acknowledged that it was teresa or I that did them.  About 2 times a week before  got weaker she would say want to.go and we would go get a ice cream cone.  When i would get ready to leave i would hug and kiss her tell her i loved her. She would always kissed me on the cheek and say. "I love u".   I guess my fondest memory is after she was bedridden i was singing Jesus loves me to her and she started singing with me.  She was one of the sweetest ladies i have ever known.

I can't remember a time that Mrs. Joyce wasn't smiling.  Everytime I walked into the shop, she would be laughing and joking with her clients.  She was such a lovely person to grow up knowing.  

I can remember that every time I went to get my haircut as soon as I walked in I would see your Mom's smiling face first thing. If she wasn't smiling she would be laughing with one of her customers. You and your Mom would be back and forth talking and laughing with customers. I always enjoyed when I got my haircut there because of the friendly atmosphere and good cuts,( both hair and jokes).

She always cut my hair when I was a child loved hearing her talk all the time bout u Teresa she was such a sweetheart to all of us. Wish we hadn’t moved away for 21 years and missed all the great stories from her

Mrs. Joyce was a fabulous hairstylist and person. My Mother and I use to get our hair done by Mrs. Joyce and Teresa. Very..very sweet people. RIPMrs. Joyce. You will truely be missed.

Her smiling face always welcomed me into the beauty shop! I also remember fondly as a little girl how she would give me a pack of crackers and let me crush the coke cans in the back. It is a little thing but I always cherished every time I would visit the shop! 

I could never have asked for a better mother, who became one of my best friends.  It was an added joy that we worked together for more than 35 years.  She always put the needs and wants of my dad and me ahead of herself, she showed us the meaning of true love.  God truly blessed me when He chose her to be my mother and I will miss her forever.
