Philemon N. Gooden

Mr. Gooden was born September 21, 1931 in Griffin, GA, son of the late Merrill Eugene Gooden and Ruby Wiles Gooden. He was a member of Second Baptist Church and a former member of the Kiwanis Club. Mr. Gooden was employed with A&P Store in Warner Robins, GA and Manchester, GA for 14 years and later was a General Agent with Allstate Insurance Company for 34 years before retiring.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Betty Gooden of LaGrange; 2 sons, Stephen (Marianne) Gooden of LaGrange and Timothy (Lisa) Gooden of Suwannee, GA; 4 grandchildren, Nicholas (Leslie) Gooden of LaGrange, April (Larry) Waldrop of Hogansville, GA, Samuel Gooden and Zachary Gooden, both of Suwannee, GA; 2 great grandsons, Jackson Waldrop and Kolby Waldrop; 2 great granddaughters, Kylie Knight and Jordan Knight; 3 sisters, Jeanette (Bill) Lee, Barbara Watford, and Kay Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Chris Davis and Reverend Neil Stich officiating. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memory Gardens.

The family will be at the home of his wife, Betty Gooden, and will receive family and friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association in memory of Mr. Philemon N. Gooden.
