Posie Sonny Edward Freeman

Sonny was born January 3, 1942 in LaGrange, GA to the late Harold Ellis Freeman, Sr. and Selma Joy Lankford Freeman. He was retired from West Point Stevens, Dunson Mill and had an avid love for farming. As a youth, he was a member of the 4-H Club for several years and as his children grew up they were all a member of the 4-H Club. Sonny was a faithful member of Harmony United Methodist Church and enjoyed being involved with church activities. Sonny never met a stranger and will be greatly missed by all. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Elizabeth Butler Freeman, sons, James Edward Freeman and Timothy John Freeman.

He is survived by former wife and friend, Joyce Barnes Freeman; children, Amy Ward and her husband David, Marc Freeman and his wife Sierra, Sam Freeman and his wife Sandi, and Tania Freeman Lightsey and her husband Kevin; grandchildren, Ryan, Alex, Chesnee, Davin, Emma, David “DW”, Tanner, Spencer, and James Rhys; great grandchildren, Brayden Isaiah, James Edward “Skip”, and Zane Oliver; brother, Harold Ellis Freeman, Jr. and his wife Jan; sister, Mildred Runette Freeman Bishop and her husband Lamar; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Harmony United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Sheila Crow officiating. The gathering of family and friends will be from 2:00pm until service time at Harmony United Methodist Church.
