

A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, October 10 at Western Heights Baptist Church in LaGrange at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Greg Brown and Rev. Mike Shaw. Internment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Lanett, AL. Family will receive friends Sunday, October 9 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Striffler-Hamby in LaGrange.
Mr. Jennings is survived by his wife, Carlene W. Jennings; his mother, Hattie Jennings of Tampa, FL; his daughter, Laurie (Jason) Phillips of Valley; his son, Brian (Charisse) Jennings of Gadsden; his step-daughter, Amy Guined; his brothers Jim (Kay) Jennings of Brandon, FL and Joe (Joy) Jennings of Tampa, FL; his sisters Carol (Kevin) Wright of Orange Park, FL and Nancy Jennings of Tampa, FL; his seven grandchildren, Jase, Marleigh, and Macy Phillips and Madylin, Bella, Caleb, and Wyn Jennings; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Jennings was born on January 14, 1947, in Newport News, VA. He grew up in Tampa, Florida and graduated from Hillsborough High School, as well as the University of South Florida with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. In 1970, he married his high school sweetheart, Marlene Blitch. They were married until her death in 2002. In 2004, he was blessed to love again when he was introduced to and married, Carlene Guined. He worked for US Steel as a supervisor for 15 years, and then at West Point Foundry for 15 years. He then continued his career at various other places such as Sims Machinery, Durand-Wayland, Auburn Investment Castings, Pretty Products, and Wal-Mart of Valley. He was an active member of Western Heights Baptist Church and formerly of Lanett First Baptist Church. He was a loving husband and father who held his family close and dear to his heart. He loved “hot rods”, spending time at Lake Martin, watching anything his grandkids participated in, and giving to others through his time and labor. His father, James E. Jennings, also precedes him in death.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to West Georgia Hospice in memory of Raymond Allen Jennings.
