Rebecca Becky Phillips

Mrs. Phillips was born October 26, 1938 in Troup County, daughter of the late Rev. John Noles and Eula Newell Noles. She was a longtime member of Stovall Baptist Church where she served in a number of positions, including Clerk, Pianist, Treasurer and Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Phillips was retired from the US Postal Service, having served as a Clerk and OIC at several local post offices. She also worked with her husband as owner-operators of Neal Phillips Grocery for many years. ‘Miss Becky’ loved her family, gardening, reading, singing and her Miniature Pinscher, Cookie.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Marion Neal Phillips, Sr.; brothers, Raymond Allen Noles and Thomas Earl Noles and a sister, Edna Fincher.

Survivors include a sister, Linda Griffith, of Oak Hill, FL; her sons, Neal Phillips and his wife TC, of LaGrange and Mike Phillips and his wife Sharon, of LaGrange. ‘Big Mama’ is also survived by grandchildren Scarlett Phillips of Valdosta, Jake Phillips of Chesapeake VA, Holly Phillips of LaGrange, Sarah Phillips of Auburn AL, Madison Phillips and Jon Alan Phillips, both of LaGrange, along with several nieces and nephews

The gathering of family and friends will be Thursday, July 17, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Friday, July 18, 2014 at Stovall Baptist Church with Rev. Aaron McCullough and Rev. S.T. Janney officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Hope Baptist Church cemetery near Warm Springs.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Stovall Baptist Church Building Fund in memory of Mrs. Becky Phillips.
