
Mrs. Slagle was born April 17, 1931, in Athens, PA to the late Dr. Elton Merle Brennan and Sibyl Macafee Brennan. She received her BA in Music from Houghton College in New York. Mrs. Slagle taught music in the public school system for 35 years and was Music Director at First Presbyterian Church for 10 years. She was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church, where she was an elder member of the Gospel class, active member and officer of Presbyterian Women.
Mrs. Slagle was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma for forty years, serving as past President and Treasurer. She was editor of two cookbooks by Presbyterian Women entitled “Predestined to Be Good” and “Predestined to be Better.” Mrs. Slagle also served ten years on the Tax Board of Equalization. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Slagle was preceded in death by her son, Maj. Raymond Thomas Slagle.
Survivors include her husband of 50 Years, Thomas F. Slagle; son, Larry Reid Slagle; grandchildren, Jessica Slagle and Victoria Slagle; nieces, Roxie Callear, LaVonne Webster Mackey and Ester Barajikian; nephew, Reverend Tim Webster; sister-in-law, Eloise Kerr; other family and friends.
A Memorial service will be 11:00 am Thursday, September 4, 2014, at First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange with Dr. Doug DeCelle officiating. The gathering of family and friends will immediately follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
