Wallace Leon "Red" Hopson

Mr. Hopson was born March 14, 1923 in LaGrange, son of the late Joseph Jefferson Hopson and Mary Odie Moseley Hopson. He was a member of First Baptist Church on the Square and was retired from Southern Bell Telephone Company after 42 years of service. Mr. Hopson was a U.S. Marine Veteran, serving from 1943 to 1945. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Lanier Hopson.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Sarah Loyd Hopson of LaGrange; three children, Nancy Hopson King of Marietta, GA, Glenn Hopson of Sandersville, GA, and Jeff Hopson of Richmond, VA; daughter-in-law, Donna Hopson of Roswell, GA; sister, Vivian Flexman of Austin, TX; and six grandchildren, Jeremy Hopson and Meredith Hopson Galvin both of Houston, TX, Matt King, Steve King, and Jill Hopson all of Marietta, GA, and Brad Hopson of Charleston, SC.

Graveside funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 20, 2013 in Shadowlawn Cemetery with Dr. Paul Baxter and Reverend Paul Blair officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family request for donations be made to West Georgia Hospice, 1510 Vernon Road, LaGrange, GA 30240 or your church of choice in memory of Mr. Wallace Leon “Red” Hopson.
