She was born in Montgomery, LA and came to Lake Charles in 1950. Alexa worked at J.C. Penny for many years prior to her retirement. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Cathedral. Alexa enjoyed holiday meals with her family.
Survivors include her son, Leslie Paul Smith of Missouri City, TX; daughter, Charlotte Ann Gafford of Lake Charles; brother, Warren E. Kimbrell of Spring, TX; stepdaughter, Karen of Sulphur; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, P.D. Smith, her second husband, Ken “Baby” Owen; and sons, William “Bill” Smith and Raymond Smith.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles from 8am until service time with a rosary at 9am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday at 10am at Immaculate Conception Cathedral. Burial will be at Prien Memorial Park Cemetery.
