

He was a native T-Mamou and lived in Lake Charles most of his life. He enlisted in the Marine Corp prior to graduation from LaGrange High School in 1959. He retired as a Master Gunnery Sergeant of 20 years. He then received an associate’s degree from McNeese State University. He later served as the Post Commander of the American Legion Post 1 and was a member of the Marine Corp League. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, camping, dancing and golf. Most important to Ray was his family, the Marine Corp and his devout Catholic faith.
Survivors include his son, Daniel Ray LaFleur; daughter, Suzanne Rae Pamich; sisters, Barbara Sonnier and Carol Thomas; grandchildren, Alex LaFleur, Ashlynne Gregory, Christabelle Pamich and Miranda Pamich; great grandchild, Noah Gregory; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Carol Ann Harvey. He is preceded in death by his parents, E.P. and Annie Deshotel LaFleur; wife, Betty LaFleur; brother, Patrick LaFleur; and daughter, Holly Lynn LaFleur.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at St. Margaret Catholic Church. Msgr. Charles Dubois will officiate. Internment will take place after the service at Highland Memory Gardens with military honors. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 12, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
