

He was born in Tribune, Kansas and moved to Harrison, Arkansas at the age of 4. Carl later moved to Rosepine when he was 17. He served in the US Army from 1954-1956. Carl attended McNeese State University and LSU and he received his Doctorate of Dentistry from Loyola University in 1961. Dr. Churchman moved to Lake Charles after graduation and opened his dental practice in 1962. He was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church.
Survivors include his loving wife, Madeline Courville Churchman of Lake Charles; son, Dr. Carl Churchman, Jr. and wife, Dr. Mary Seale Churchman of Lake Charles; daughters, Carla Duplechin and husband, Buck of Gonzales, LA, Dr. Lisa Bailey of Prairieville, LA and Debra Savoie and husband, Dr. Lance Savoie of Erath, LA; brother, Fred Churchman and wife, Nova of Baton Rouge, LA; sister, Treva “Pat” Perry of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Christopher Duplechin, Leeann August, Madeline Bailey, Gray Bailey, Jr., Lexi Bailey, Malory Savoie, Philip Savoie, Nathan Savoie, Kyle Churchman, Luke Churchman, Morgan Churchman and Layton Caruthers; and 3 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Joseph and Hilda Churchman.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 11, 2015 from 4pm-8pm with a rosary at 6pm at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. It will also resume Monday at 9am until time of service. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11am with Msgr. Jace Eskind officiating at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Consolata Cemetery.
