Dianna “Dale” Marie (Broussard) Boudreaux was born January 10, 1941 in New Iberia to Claudy and Louise Broussard. She spent most of her life in Cameron Parish, first in the town of Cameron and then in Oak Grove. The majority of her career was spent in bookkeeping, she absolutely loved working with numbers, and if those books were a penny off, she was going to find it. On many weekends you could find her fishing on Saturdays and playing cards on Sundays, after church of course. She was a devout Catholic and had a love and affection for the church like few others. She was never one to complain as you were supposed to give any suffering or complaint to God and then let it go. “Let go and let God,” she said many times. What she wanted most in life was for her children to be happy, and they were always her number one priority,” her chickens.” She was a loyal friend and many will attest to her good nature and quick wit. That woman had sass and sarcasm, and we loved her for it! She was also known to tear up some red fish and flounder. She loved fishing almost as much as she loved her “chickens.” In addition to church on Sundays and the ever-present, smoke-filled dining room full of Bourre and poker players, she was a passionate Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Terrible towels were owned and waved. The truth is she was a football fan. She loved to watch as many NFL games as she could. She was so very lucky to be blessed with many grandchildren, who have gone on to make families of their own with even more beautiful little ones that she absolutely adored. She was a one-of-a-kind, strong, beautiful, faithful woman, and we are so very grateful we got to call her mom!
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Velda Roux, her brother Russel Broussard and son-in-law Dericke Smith.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Galton Boudreaux; son, Dirk Desonier and his wife Karen; daughter, Delaine Chastain and her husband Todd; son, Dean Desonier and wife Candace; daughter, Jengi Miller; and the daughter she always thought of as her own, Dinah Billings; stepson, Mitchell Boudreaux and wife Pauline; stepson, Stephen Boudreaux and wife Lisa; brother, Sterling Broussard and his wife Alice.
The family would like to send special thanks to The Heart of Hospice, Dr. Jadoon and especially to Candy Desonier, who selflessly did more than anyone could expect a daughter-in-law to do and was happy to be able to care for her, allowing Dale to stay in her home as long as possible. We couldn’t have done it without her.
