She was born in Lake Charles, LA, where she lived most of her life. Dixie worked many hours of her young life designing beautiful art and flowers at Michelle’s Flower Shop, which she co-owned with her mother, then became active in her husband’s business Daniel Lovett Bail Bonds.
Dixie was a loving wife to her husband of 52 years, Daniel Lovett. She was a loving mother, who was always involved in the activities of her 3 daughters, whether it be school, Bluebirds, Girl Scouts Brownies or sports. She put just as much love and energy into her grandchildren as she did her children. Dixie also enjoyed working in her yard.
Those left to cherish her memory include her 3 daughters, Candice (John) Upmeyer of Moss Bluff, Tressy (Jason) Bergeron of Lake Charles and Danielle Pack of Lake Charles; 6 grandchildren, Nicolas, Mason and Casey Ramirez, Kylie and Kristin Bergeron and Matthew Upmeyer and 1 great-granddaughter, Sawyer Rose Ramirez.
Dixie was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Robert Lovett, parents Richard (Dick) Tharp and Dorothy Amesbury Tharp, 1 sister, Dorothy Waldmeier and one brother, Richard Tharp Jr.
Visitation will be held at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles from 4pm until 8pm on Saturday, February 20th and from 12pm until 2pm on Sunday February 21th, 2021. Her funeral will be held Sunday, February 21st. Dixie’s final resting place will be at Bird Nest Cemetery.
