Ellen Marie Hall, 84, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2022. She was born to Claude Miller and Lottie Ryan Miller on April 3, 1937, in Lake Charles, LA, and raised in Hecker by Elizabeth and Kelley Savant. She graduated from Iowa High School where she was valedictorian, homecoming queen, cheerleader, played basketball, softball, and ran track.
She worked for the Calcasieu Parish School Board as a bus driver for 42 ½ years, retiring at the age of 79. She also worked for Baker Packers Oilfield Services as a secretary.
She was an outstanding bowler, while also serving as a certified bowling coach and as a board member for the women’s bowling association. She and her teammates traveled to state and national bowling tournaments with great success.
Ellen Marie is survived by her daughter Donna Matte and son-in-law Rex; her son Bernard Marcantel and his fiancé Leeanna; her grandson Nicholas Ryan Matte and wife Chelsea, and one great grandson Desmond Ryan Matte. She also leaves behind her favorite in-laws, Alvis Roache and Linda Perkins.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 24 from 4-8 pm at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Visitation will resume on Friday, February 25 at 9am with funeral services led by her cousin Keith Cating starting at 11 am. Interment will follow at Hebert Cemetery in Hecker, LA.
