

Ms. Evelyn was a member of the Pink-Ladies Auxiliary at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. She was a folding lady at First United Methodist Church and enjoyed to playing BINGO and Bridge. She worked as a secretary for the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture for over 10 years and was a member of the N.A.R.F.E. She attended Business College in Alexandria. Evelyn was very independent and had a sharp minded woman who loved to travel.
Those left to cherish her memory are her numerous nieces and nephews.
Ms. Evelyn was born September 30, 1912 to Thomas and Mary Sutherlin. She married William M. Kendall on July 7, 1951 in Lake Charles, he preceded her in death in 1966, she was also preceded by her parents; brothers, Aaron Thomas Sutherlin, Theodore Sutherlin, Jack Sutherlin, Leo Hewitt; sisters, Rena Jenkins, Marion Sonnier, Ora Lee Johnson, Winnie June Snell, Mildred Landry, and Georgie Reeves.
Her funeral will be at 2:00pm Tuesday, May 20, 2014, in Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Visitation is from 5-8pm Monday, May 19 and will resume Tuesday 10am until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Memory Garden of Lake Charles.
