

Frederick “Fred” Gilmore, 92, passed from this life on Monday, October 12, 2015 at his residence. He lived in Lake Charles for 68 years and was a very active member at First Baptist Church in Lake Charles for 60 years. He was involved with teaching a young adult Sunday School class along with being a Chairman of the Deacons at one point. He was also involved with the Gideons and even taught Sunday School in the city jail. He loved his Lord and Savior and his precious family.
He is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Gilmore and Linda Vanwinkle and husband Jim all of Lake Charles. Also, surviving are two grandchildren Timothy Eric Vanwinkle and wife Mindy of Lake Charles and Bonnie “Elizabeth” Wright and husband Neal of Dallas, TX. Also, he leaves behind four great grandchildren, Matthew Eric Vanwinkle, Katie Faith Vanwinkle, Liam Spencer Wright, and Lillian Yvonne Wright.
He was preceded in death by his precious wife Gwendolyn “Gwen” Gilmore whom he was married to for 55 years, one son, John Warren Gilmore, and his parents William and Helen Gilmore.
Services will be held at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 2:00pm. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 from 5:00pm-8:00pm and will resume on Thursday from 1:00pm until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens.
