Gregory Troy "Lil Greg" January Jr.

Lake Charles - Gregory Troy January, Jr., 31, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2014 in a local hospital.

He loved horseback riding, playing softball, football and was an avid Saints fan. He was a loving husband, father, son, grandson, brother, uncle and friend.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma January; daughter, Jada (Butterfly) January; step-sons, Tyron (Tiger) Sonnier and Ashton (Bull) Owens; father, Gregory Troy January, Sr. and step mother Stephanie January; mother, Lorendia Kay Savoy; grandmother, Mary January; sister, Shetaura January and fiancee’ Marcus Harmon; step sisters, Michelle George and Jessica Matt, nieces, Laila (Chipmunk) Duhon, Aubriee (Pebbles) Rollerson, godparents, Drusilla Jones and Raymond LeBlanc, Jr., godchildren, Landon DeShields and Hunner Dowd. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Arthur James (AJ) January, Rev. Joseph Savoy, Jr., and Mary Savoy.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Abu Shamat and the staff at FMC for their love and care. Also to the ER staff at St. Pat’s Hospital and especially to Dr. Kelly and his staff for the ongoing love, comfort and support to the family.

His service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2014 at New Emmanuel Baptist Church. Service will be officiated by Rev. Lannis Joseph; Sermon by Rev. Roland E. Mouton, Jr. The wake will be Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Burial will be at Bargeman Cemetery.
