Harold was preceded in death by his wonderful wife Theresa Lynn Bridges and his mother Edith Cobb Bridges, his father Archie Cleveland Bridges, 4 sisters, Elaine Stanley, Gwen Axtle, Gail Westfall, Edie Lucas and brother Lamar Bridges, and his beloved son, Jeffery “Bubba” Lane Bridges.
Harold and Lynn were married on March 14, 1964 and had five children. Their first was a son, Jeff “Bubba” Lane Bridges, Dana Katherine Carter, Rhonda Dale Pierce (Kirk), Sonya Renee Allen (Jason Fuslier) and Rebecca Lynn Veillon (Shannon).
Harold and Lynn, his precious wife were together faithfully during their 61 years of marriage. Everyone who knew them agreed their marriage was made in heaven. Both shared the promise to never allow their home to be divided. Together they over came the hardships of life, common to all homes even through the loss of their son Jeff, very heart rendering. They were united and determined to go on living, because of the love for one another, their undying love for their 4 daughters and their spouses. Harold and Lynn displayed externally the love born in their hearts for their 20 grandchildren and their 26 great grandchildren. As such “All men should strive diligently to seek after a commitment of love and the willingness of expressing.
Harold, as a young man, as in later years will be remembered as one with no expressions of fear, only the desire to seek courage so he could take on the struggles of life.
Harold had great work ethics and carried those values with him all of his years. Harold was relentless in his pursuit of earning an honest paycheck to meet all the needs of beloved family.
Harold spent over 20 years with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office until his retirement in 2000. After his retirement Harold went on to work Part-Time/Reserves for the City of Lake Charles-WARD 3 Marshals Office. His successful service as an officer of law enforcement shows the absolute proof of his lifelong commitment to his internal values of a man dedicated to his family, his many friends and to the people of Calcasieu Parish. Harold ended well.
The family will welcome the public for visitation at J. E. Hixson & Sons Funeral Home Tuesday, February 10, 2026 from 5pm until 8pm. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at 10am until time of funeral service at 2pm. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
