

Mr. Dickens was born November 19, 1923 and lived in Prince George, VA. He worked for LA Menhaden for 46 years from 1946-1992. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp., serving in the South Pacific during World War II. He loved to hunting, was very active in his church, and enjoyed watching high school football. He will always be remembered as a very hard working, dedicated, loyal, and supportive friend. He was a great husband and father, and had a great love for his dog.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Frances Dickens; son, Horace L. Dickens, Jr. “Dickie” and wife, Cathi of Lake Charles; daughter, Debbie Rasberry and husband, Michael of Lake Charles; two grandchildren Matthew Rasberry and Carrow Rasberry and a sister, Chris Elledge of Prince George, VA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, December 17, 2010 at First United Methodist Church. Rev. Louis Blankenbaker and Rev. Weldon Bares will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles from 4-7 p.m. Thursday and Friday 8 a.m. til 12 Noon. Visitation will resume at the Church at 1 p.m. and continue til time of service.
