
He was born April 5, 1920 in Georgia. He retired from the United States Postal Service in 1981 after 40 years of service. His last assignment was as the Postmaster in Dallas.
James was one of the organizers of the Calcasieu Federal Credit Union and served as its first Secretary-Treasurer. While living in Lake Charles he was active in the Optimist Club having been a past president.
He was a proud U.S Army Veteran during WWII. He served with the 84th Infantry Division and he received a Bronze Star Medals for his actions in Germany. After returning home after the war he was active in the Army Reserve until 1966 when he retired at the rank of Lt. Colonel.
James is predeceased by his wife; Sylvia Mae Lusby who passed away in 2004. He is survived by his two sons; James Thomas Lusby of Fredericksburg, VA and Ronald Ray Lusby of Houston, TX, granddaughters; Ashley Lusby Witman and Ellen Lusby, great grandchildren; Mackie Witsman and Ty Witsman, sisters; Nellie Lusby and Elaine Mcinturf of Shreveport, LA.
