

Jimmy was born in Lake Charles, LA on July 24, 1926 to Oscar and Azena Savoie. After his father’s passing at the age of 15, he became a caretaker to his mother and younger brother and his caring nature for those he loved was evident for the rest of his life. Jimmy served in the U.S. Navy as an electrician during WW2. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1982 after 30 years of exemplary service to his customers in south Lake Charles. After retirement he attended Sowela Tech to further his education in HVAC where he then worked in that field for 15 years. In the spirit of his generosity, Mr. Savoie has helped many local residents by repairing numerous appliances. Jimmy was a life time member of the VFW, DAV, NALC for over 50 yrs. and a member of the CFMA where he spent many Saturday nights cutting a rug with his true love Cecile.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years; Cecile Bonsall Savoie, sons; James O. (Madeline), Dennis K. (Debra), daughter; Phyllis S. Tarkington, 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and one great, great grandson. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents-Oscar and Azena Savoie and his brother; Dolzay A. Savoie.
All who knew him are welcome to gather in assisting his family to say good bye to a very special man, who was loved by many on Wednesday February 17, 2016 4-8 pm for a viewing with a Cursillo rosary at 6:30pm and will resume on Thursday from 9am until time of services at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Lake Charles, Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 11am with Father Jeff Starkovich officiating.
