

Jimmy “Jimbo” A. Hollingsworth passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on July 4, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer. Jimmy was born in Lake Charles, the son of the late Murphy and Jay Hollingsworth. Jimmy was a graduate of Ragley High School and Northwestern State University (Natchitoches). He was a retired Field Auditor with the State of Louisiana Dept. of Labor. Jimmy was also a long time member of the McNeese State University Cowboy Club and an avid fan of all MSU sports. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years Dr. Debra Hollingsworth of Lake Charles; two daughters, Ashley Pitman and husband Jeff of Youngsville, LA. and Donna Hightower and husband Jared of Lake Charles; one son, David Wyatt and wife Andrea of Carlyss, LA.; eight grandchildren, Allie, Jacob, and Jack Pitman, Hayden, Haylie, and Maycie Hightower, and Dylan and Abby Wyatt.
His funeral will be Wednesday July 6, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Rev. Allen Trouille will officiate. Burial will be at Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 5, 2011 from 5 p.m. til 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. til time of service at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. The rosary will be at 6 p.m. on July 5. Pallbearers are Johnny Gilbert, DeWitt Hollingsworth, Duke Hollingsworth, David Sparks, James Smith Jr., and Ken Weisenbaker.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Van Snider, MD Anderson Hospital, Odyssey Home Health Care, and Dr. William Fisher (Baylor College of Medicine). In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in memory of Jimmy are made to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, MSU Nutrition Foundation Acct #297 or the McNeese Athletic Foundation (Box 93425, Lake Charles, LA. 70609).
