Jo Ann Eve Doxey

Jo Ann Eve Doxey, 75, of Grand Chenier passed away Saturday, December 12, 2015 at a local hospital. She is preceded in death by her parents, Arnold Rutherford and Matilda Bourriague Rutherford and Brother Bobby Rutherford.

She is survived by her husband Joseph Walter “JW” Doxey Jr.; Sons, Duncan Doxey of Lake Charles, Joseph “Joey” Doxey and wife Veronica of Texas City, Bryan Doxey and wife Teena of Ruston; Daughter, Denine Gasway and husband Brad of Los Alamos, New Mexico; Sister, Edie Gautreaux and husband Dale of Starks; 9 Grandchildren and 2 Great-Grandchildren.

Jo Ann Graduated as Class Valedictorian from Grand Chenier High School. She was an active member of the Grand Chenier Methodist Church and was also an Eastern Star member. Jo Ann was devoted in helping her husband in building Doxey Marina as their family business. She was avid in keeping up with current affairs in her community; she loved camping and liked to travel on vacations.

Visitation will be held at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles on Monday, December 14, 2015 from 4p.m. until 8p.m. and will resume Tuesday morning until service time. Services will be Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at 10a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Garden in Lake Charles.
