Joan Marie (Lumpkin) Michel was born August 10,1954 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Bea and Edward Irven Lumpkin. She had endless stories of a magical childhood growing up in New Orleans. She was raised in a strong Baptist faith and could quote the Bible front and back. She treasured holidays and summers with her grannies Gert and TK and her grandpas.
Exactly one week after her 18th birthday she married the man who would become the absolute love of her life, Larry Michel. She was his Queen for all 40 Years of their marriage until he passed away in 2012, taking a piece of her heart with him.
She dedicated her life to her three children Melissa (Scott Saucier), Melinda and Moose(Larry Jr./Angela) as well as multiple "adopted" children who lovingly called her Mama Joan. She definitely left her mark on each one of them and the lessons she taught will live on through them for generations.
Her grandchildren and great grandchildren Kristen (Josh Carlyle), Sadie, Matthew, Angel, Jackson, Laci, Madelyn, Ariana and Mason were her greatest treasures. They made her so very proud. She loved to write fairytales for them and tell long stories about how special they are in the world. Her absolute favorite thing to do in her final days was to play UNO tournaments with Laci.
Joan enjoyed journaling, coloring and following the celebrity gossip mags that reminded her of her best memories with her mom. She loved movies, especially the classics. Her favorites were Gone With the Wind and The Wizard of Oz.
She is survived by her siblings Cindy(Glenn), Cookie(Gary), Cathy(Tom), Cheryl(Cheb), John(Laura) and Liz along with a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Joan will be forever remembered and greatly missed by all who knew her!
