

John Kirk Broussard of Sulphur, died September 17, 2012 at age 53, at West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital. He was raised and grew up in Chalmette, LA. John’s family and friends remember his great wit and sense of humor. John graduated from Southeastern University with a BA Degree in Criminal Justice. He then was commissioned as an officer in the US Army. He was a captain in the Infantry, Army Ranger 1st Cavalry Division. John was a licensed pilot aircraft and helicopter. After leaving the military, he worked for the National Guard, the Louisiana State Police, State of Louisiana as a probation officer. In the last 15 years John operated Broussard’s Handy Man Service. At the time of his death he was employed as a substituted teacher for Calcasieu Parish schools.
He is survived by his loving wife, Karen Myers Broussard of Sulphur; one brother Johnny Broussard of Lebanon Tennessee; three step-daughters, Gina Barnes of Sulphur, Farrah Lyules of Bossier City, and Christina Hebert of Sulphur, whom he loved as his own. He had 5 grandchildren, Kinley and Marlie Barnes, Nicholas and Gavin Elliott and Grace Hebert. John was a baptized Christian.
A service will be held for John at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles on Friday, September 21, 2012 at 1pm. Visitation will be on Thursday 5pm-8pm with a cursillo rosary at 5:15pm and resume Friday 11am until service time. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens.
