Joshua Lance Waldmeier

“I may not have a long life, but I had a good life.” - Josh Josh,43, was born on March 16th, 1979 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and passed away peacefully at his home in Oregon on January 11th, 2023 surrounded by his family and friends. Josh was raised in Sulphur, Josh was deeply loved and cherished by his family, friends, and community. At an early age Josh devoted his life to be a servant of the Lord, instilling and practicing Christian values throughout his life. He excelled in school and was a part of many scholastic clubs, as well as being part of the track and football teams for Sulphur High School. Josh was humble. He had a very tight pack of friends, however, Josh never met a stranger. No matter the person, Josh would welcome them with open arms and an open mind; making that person feel loved and welcomed at all times. Josh was an adventurous soul. As a child he was always playing “army” or “ninja” with his siblings and friends. They would go on journeys into the woods, end up lost miles away from home,.. and attempt to hitchhike back. Growing older, his love for adventure stayed with him. He loved to travel, camp, eat Popeyes and Darrel’s, play Mortal Kombat, cruise in his ‘65 Mustang, drink Guinness, skateboard, rollerblade and have epic house parties (don’t tell mom). His passion for music(specifically punk rock music)brought him to many concerts of his favorite bands and he would often attempt to hang out with the bands post-show, and was usually successful. He loved to surf; be it either California, Oregon, and Galveston. Josh and his many friends in tow would often camp on the beach and surf until sunset - living the dream. Mostly, he loved knowing the fact that he was his grandmother's favorite. In 2003, Josh met the love of his life, Lindy. It was truly love at first sight. Together, Josh would continue his adventures with Lindy, who is also an adventurous soul. They loved to be with their large group of friends as much as they could and travel far and wide to many destinations. They were an adored couple by all, and married in 2006. In 2011 they blessed us with their first child, Everett Benjamin, who took to their adventurous life with stride. Then in the years to come, that love was even greater when they welcomed two more sons, Ethan Robert and Emerson Joshua; Josh’s love for his sons was impenetrable. Lindy and Josh would teach the boys so much what they loved about the world. The boys are naturally full of the love and compassion that their parents both possess. Josh taught the boys so much of the things he loved as a child; which grew their imaginations to grand proportions. He and Lindy loved teaching them and taking them to their many lessons including: jiu jitsu, basketball, swimming, music, art, video games, and so much more. Of all of his accomplishments in life, his greatest love in life was his wife and children. He graduated from Sulphur High School in 1997 and pursued his dream of attending Louisiana State university where he earned his Bachelors in Environmental Management. Later, continuing his education at McNeese State University earning his Masters in Environmental Science and Chemistry. Because of his passion for nature, especially being on the water, Josh pursued a career of environmental science - with the dream of leaving a positive footprint on the world. Beginning at CK Associates as an Environmental Specialist, Josh later became an Enforcement Officer of the Environmental Protection Agency. Taking him around the world - sharing his expertise. His most memorable task was going to London, England to present in a seminar about water quality to the Royal Navy. Then lastly, joining Flint Hill Resources as an Environmental Engineer, and then Emergency Response and Security Professional. Josh was held in the highest esteem and regard throughout all of his professional career. In 2005, Josh joined the United States Coast Guard, serving 17 years altogether - rising to the rank of Lieutenant. Through the years, Josh eamed numerous awards and accolades, such as: Coast Guard Commendation Medal, 2 Coast Guard Achievement Medals, 2 Letters of Commendations, 2 Reserve Good Conduct Medals, Meritorious Team Comm Ribbon, and Air Force Reserve Medal with Mobilization. In 2020 LT Waldmeier was awarded the 2020 Reserve Responder of the Year for the Coast Guard National Strike Force. In 2019 and 2020, LT Waldmeier served 114 days as the lead federal representative on-scene, managing the undertaking of the largest salvage operation in US history. Furthermore, LT Waldmeier will be the first recipient of The Cameron Altman Excellence in Leadership Medal for his superior service of duty while serving as an outstanding leader, passionate educator, competent responder, role model and loyal friend at the Pacific Strike Team from 2017-2023. LT Waldmeier was a highly revered and loved by all of his fellow "Coasties" through his years of service. Semper Paratus. Josh was truly adored by all who met and came to know him. The countless stories of him will be told in joy and laughter. His legacy will live on with the love and kindness he so passed on to his wife and sons, and the many he came in contact with throughout his life. He will be deeply missed Josh is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. Josh is survived by his parents,Debbie Price and Lance (Valarie) Waldmeier; as well, his siblings, Anne Yates, Brad (Nicole) Harrington, Jake (Heather) Waldmeier, Melissa (Andy) Higgins, Megan (Calvin) Tyler, and Jordan Waldmeier; He leaves behind his many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends. But most tragically, leaving behind his loving partner and wife of 20 years, Lindy P. Waldmeier, and their three young sons: Everett, Ethan, and Emerson. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 28th, 2023 at Hixson Funeral Home Chapel of Peace in Lake Charles, LA beginning at 11:00am. A funeral service will be held following visitaton starting at 1:00pm with Chaplain Justin Brown officiating.
