He was a carpenter by trade. He worked through Local 953. He enjoyed wood working, was an avid outdoorsman and he loved to hunt and fish.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Mrs. Hazel Lavergne of Iowa, LA; daughters, Tara Dawn Pollock of Austin, TX, Dena Jewel Miller of Iowa, LA; step sons, Timothy Fontenot of Moss Bluff, Bob Fontenot of Katy, TX, Johnny Fontenot of Moss Bluff; step daughters, Rhonda Jones of Alvin, TX, Tina Smith of Moss Bluff; sisters, Ruby Miller of Iowa, LA, Ruth Bihm of Iowa, LA; 19 grandchildren and 15 step great, grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Margaret Lavergne; one son, Stuart Kim Lavergne; one brother, Travis Lavergne; a sister, Joyce Mallett and a step daughter, Pam Sparks.
His funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery in Iowa. Visitation will be Tuesday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and again Wednesday from 8 a.m. til time of service.
