Lenora C. Duck

Mrs. Duck was born in North Carolina and was the Valedictorian of her graduating class in Dallas. She worked her younger years for her husband as secretary with Tom’s Toasted Peanuts, as a Milliner for Muller’s and retired after many years in

Real-estate with her husband Wesley Duck. She enjoyed playing countless games of “Rook” with her friends. Mrs. Duck was an admirable woman of faith, and an active member of Trinity Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for fifty years.

She was also the church receptionist and Pastor’s secretary for Rev. Larry Ramsour for many years. She and her husband Bill Brown were instrumental in the spiritual growth of the Lake Charles Care Center by providing worship services to its residents.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Duck and her 2nd husband, Bill Brown; daughter, Shirley Maillian; parents, Rev. T.F. Cooper and Annie Cooper; three brothers, Turner, Doug and Ed Cooper.

She is survived by her daughters, Marian Hatsfelt and husband Toby of Pensacola, FL and Judy D. Smythe and husband Vince of Moss Bluff; grandchildren, Jessica Everett and husband Channing, Michael Hatsfelt and wife, Kristy, Matthew Maillian, DeeDee Westbrook and husband, Michael , Jennifer Cagle Ackel and husband, Dickie, Jolynne Cagle Dennis and husband, Nathan, Jillian Cagle and Emily Smythe Rape and husband, Chad; 16 great grandchildren; brother, Ottis Cooper of Bartlesville, OK.

Her funeral will be 10:00am, Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Rev. Steve James will officiate. Visitation will begin Wednesday 5:00pm-8:00pm and resume Thursday 8:00am until service time. Interment will be in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery. Thank you to Resthaven for caring for Mother.
