He was born August 9, 1939 in Lake Charles to Floyd Levie Heard and Marie Ann Ledoux-Heard. He attended LaGrange High School. Levie enlisted in the United States Air Force in January 1958 and served his country with honor and pride for four years before honorably being discharged to care for his mother; remaining true to his country and serving as a Reserve for six years. He had a love for animals, particularly cows and chickens and being outdoors where he grew gardens and farmed. His family recalls he was always tinkering with his favorite toy, his John Deere tractors, and was a hard-working man; always having more than one job to provide for his family and doing so without complaint. He loved singing and telling stories and never met a stranger, always talking to and meeting people wherever he went. He had the belief that if you met as strangers, you left as friends. Levie’s greatest passion and love was spending time with his family. He was a Godly man who loved the Lord and a member of Bethel Grove Pentecostal (UPC) in Junction, LA.
