Lynn loved singing and was a member of the Messiah Choir in Lake Charles. Lynn was also a faithful member of Iowa United Methodist Church and the church choir. He enjoyed biking and cycling, fishing, carpentry (remodeling homes), gardening, loved going to Colorado to visit relatives, and offroading with his cousin, Perry Melendy. Lynn loved going to Toledo Bend with his friend, Al Findley. He also enjoyed deer hunting in Colorado. Lynn enjoyed fishing with his son Lance any chance he could. Lynn was a jokester and was truly the life of the party. Lynn was a very kind, thoughtful, caring person who would do anything for Ann (almost lol). He built Leigh Ann a very large doll house when she was ten, which she was very proud of. His pride and joy was watching his grandchildren play sports and the piano.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 36 years, Ann Melendy; son, Lance Melendy (Brandy) of Moss Bluff, LA; daughter, Leigh Ann Ellender (Read) of Sulphur, LA; sister, Karen Shields (Tommy) of Iowa, LA; along with three grandchildren, Addison Melendy, Collin Melendy, and Parker Melendy.
Lynn is preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Melendy.
Services will be held at Iowa United Methodist Church on Monday, May 16, 2022, at 11:00 am, with Rev. David Dewitt officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Monday, from 9:30 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Pinehill Cemetery in Iowa, LA.
The family would like to thank everyone who had a hand in taking care of Lynn during his courageous battle with cancer. Also, a special thanks to all of his friends that called or came to visit Lynn during this time.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.JEHixson.com for the Melendy family.
